Only the Lonely . . .

Ahead of Lonely Hearts AW12 collection 'Welcome to the Real World' delivering into stores (arriving 13th Feb onwards!!!) we caught up for 5 minutes with the beautiful Keya Matthews.

What is your job/what does it involve?

I do the PR and Sales for Lonely Hearts and Lonely in New Zealand, I do things like co ordinate our press, organize events, and look after all our stockists. And I get to be surrounded by pretty clothes and lingerie all day!

What are you most looking forward to in 2012?

Later this month Helene (Lonely Hearts designer) and I are travelling to New York and London for a sales trip. I'm very excited as I've never been to NYC before, and we have meetings lined up with some really exciting and inspiring stylists and buyers. I can't wait for the galleries, musems, food, shopping, beautiful architecture and history.

Any 2012 self shopping resolutions (ie. rules for yo'self)?

Not really and resolitions, but I'm definately going to treat myself to a shiny new pair of shoes from Opening Ceremony in NYC later this month!

What are your picks from the new Lonely Hearts collection 'Welcome to the Real World'?

The striped sweater and shorts, worn together of course. We've done a pair of paneled leather pants which I know I will wear to death, especially with one of the beautiful silk shirts. I also love our custom printed floral corduroy, and thig big wool coats are amazing

(this was all said of course in Keya's cute-as-kittens English accent).

We will keep you posted as this collection hits the stores.

The war is on...

Ksubi has always been a big part of our stores, carrying the brand since waaaaay back when we have seen its highs and lows and everything in between, but have been limited to only stocking it through our Wellington door (an online), we are more pleased than ever to announce it is now available in our High Street store! Here's a little brief on the range thats delivering now...

"In a salute to those fighting against the global system, and taking inspiration from those strong enough to stand tough, ksubi approached the concept of luxury street with its notorious style for 'WAR' their AW12 collection. Combining desperate elements to create a new hybrid aesthetic to shake up the city WAR redfined the way eternal ksubi swagger is worn, and gave rebirth to the rebellious grunge of the 90's and modernised it with an engineered sensibility"

A few styles have begun to trickle through the door with much more on the way. . . we will keep you posted as it all arrives.

Kate Moss loves S&B

Kate Moss certainly loves sass & bide, the one and only mega babe was spotted recently in the 'Raising the Bar' leopard jean from s&b (just about to arrive in store!). Do you all remember way back when she was rocking one of the first 'skinny' jeans? Who could forget the 'Frayed Misfit' from 2005. She looked amazing then and she looks amazing now.

We love Kate!

Norse Projects Pre Collection

Copenhagen based Norse Projects have release a mini Pre Spring (nothern hemisphere) collection and we snapped at the chance to grab a few peices.

This pre collection is heavily influenced by Amercian sports apparel with a minimal aesthetic that we have come to expect from NP.

These items are due in store early Jan - in the mean time secure your peice online by placing a pre order.

Jack Purcell

Jack Purcell, a Canadian badminton world champion in the 1930's - around the same time as conquering the world with a racket and shuttlecock he deisgned a canvas and rubber sneaker the aim was to create a shoe that provided more protection and support on badminton courts.

In the 70's Converse purchased the trademarks rights to the shoes design, it is simlar in appareance to the Chuck Taylor and can be distinguished byt the signature smile across the toe.

We love Jack Purcell's - a look that goes back to 30's athletic style, a vintage feel, and a true classic.

Peep below the man himself, and James Dean kicking it in some JP's.

Converse jack Purcell Leather Black and Off White $155 in store and online now.

Vanishing Elephant Womenswear!!

We are so incredibly excited to let you know the Sydney based trio behind Vanishing Elephant have decided to bless us with a range for the ladies, following on from the major sucess of their menswear line the boys have branched out for Summer 2012 and we couldn't be happier. . .

We wanted to know more so put a few questions Felix Chan (we knew he'd email back the fastest, response time is usually 60seconds) to get the scoop ...

You guys are the kings of menswear, what made you decide to cater to the ladies?

Huw Bennett (the more feminine of the trio) always had a passion for womenswear. He spent a fair bit of his childhood being dressed up in girls clothes, at first he was fairly distraught and scarred by it but he's really embraced it over the past few years. He's been pushing us to do womenswear for a few seasons now, wearing dresses into the office etc so we just decided to take the leap, aside from this we have floated the idea of doing womenswear for a few seasons now and it was just the right time to branch out and expand, Our menswear is kind of established domestically, and we've just opened a retial space in Melbourne, so the timing worked for us.

Influences and inspiration for the collection?

Basically its to capture Huw Bennetts inner girl. First and foremost we wanted to retain a part of our menswear signature whilst incorporating some more feminine silhouettes and fabrics. From then on, alot of the range was evolved with pairing contrasting fabrics and shapes. We wanted to keep quite a classic silhoutte like our menswear but treat the fit differently with fabrics, from linens, beautiful washed silks to oxfords.

Who is the Vanishing Elephant Girl?

Huw Bennett.

When can we get our hands on the collection?

Collection will be in stores August and September 2012. Patience is a virtue.

Lastly but most importantly, what did you think of Lindsay Lohans Playboy shoot?

Better than expected.

Lonely Hearts new space!

We went to visit our lovely ladies at Lonely Hearts last week, and although it was a horrible rainy Auckland day, they had something wonderful to show us. Nestled amongst a heavy industrial area in Takapuna was their new workroom/showroom. In true Lonely Hearts style everything was strong and rough but totally beautiful at the same time. . .

Here are some pics!

The Carhartt 'Sid Pant'

Carhartt have a strong reputation of producing quality inspired peices and the classic 'Sid Pant'  is just that. A tapered, slim cut chino in a stretch twill, it also has a light stone wash through it to give a nice soft handle.

By far the best chino pant on the market.

We also have a fine selection of Carhartt Ripstop and Presenter shorts instore.

Carhartt is currently available at Area 51 HIgh Street, Wellington and online.
